Media Jukebox Version 7.2 License FAQ

Thanks for using Media Jukebox. We hope you enjoy it. Version 7.x has now been retired and can no longer be purchased.

If you own a 7.x license you can upgrade to 8.0 and the license will work (back up your license to floppy disk before installing).

This FAQ covers version 7.2 and version 8.0 using a license purchased for 7.2. If you purchased version 8.0, please use the Version 8.0 FAQ.

If you previously purchased MJ version 6.0, that license will work with 7.x (see our FAQ page on how to restore a license).

Q: What is the difference between MEDIA JUKEBOX and MEDIA JUKEBOX PLUS?
A: They are two versions in one program file--the free version and the optional MJ PLUS, which includes all the features contained in the free version, and:
  • CD burning above 2X to the maximum speed your burner will allow
  • MEDIA EDITOR - a sound editing tool that allows you to add/remove clips, generate sounds, apply effects and more
  • MP3 encoding up to 320 kbps
  • MEDIA SCHEDULER - automates playback and recording tasks within MJ
  • Internal DSP for improved sound quality

Q: Is there a trial version of MJ PLUS?
A: Yes. When you download MJ, you automatically receive a 30-day trial period of MJ Plus features. After the trial period, the PLUS features are disabled unless you purchase the upgrade.

Q: How much does MJ PLUS cost?
A: $14.00

Q: How do I purchase MJ PLUS?
A: Media Jukebox 7 and 8 are no longer for sale.

Q: Can I pay for MJ PLUS without using a credit card?
A: No. We accept on-line credit card purchases only.

Q: How do I backup (save) the MJ PLUS license?
A: You can save this license by using the "Backup license" prompt that immediately follows the purchase of MJ. This option is also available under Help in the MJ application.

Q: How do I restore my license?
A: To restore the MJ PLUS license, insert the floppy disk with the saved .rrg file into the PC, and select Help>Restore license from the MJ toolbar. Now browse for the .rrg file and click "Open." Back it up again to your hard disk once you've done this (see above for instructions).

Q: Do I have to purchase multiple copies of MJ PLUS if I have more than one computer?
A: No. Simply take the .rrg file you have saved on disk to another machine that has MJ installed, and then use the "Restore License" function. Do not share this file with anyone else since it contains your personal details, including your credit card number.

Q: Do I get another license in the event that I lose mine?
A: No. Please back up your license. J. River cannot issue duplicate licenses.

Q: I restored my license from the "rrg" file, but Media Jukebox still thinks I'm not registered. What do I do now?
A: There was a problem in some older versions of MJ which caused the rrg file to get corrupted. We have an update which should fix the problem for you. Please click on this link to download and install the update. Note that you MUST exit Media Jukebox before doing this procedure. When the install is complete, go back into Media Jukebox and try the restore procedure again. If this does not fix the problem for you, the rrg file must have been corrupted in some other way and you won't be able to restore the license.

Q: I can't restore my license. It doesn't work.
A: RRG Licenses (version 5 to 7)
Version 5 works with a license called MP3encoder.rrg
Version 6 works with a license called MediaJukebox6.rrg
Version 7 works with a license called MediaJukebox7.rrg and also will work with MediaJukebo6.rrg
All licenses above can be restored in MediaJukebox under Help/Restore. If this choice has been "grayed out", you do not need to restore.
None of the licenses above can be replaced by J. River. If you have lost the RRG file, you can re-purchase.
